The 5th annual WVFC Capital Cup was held in Charleston, West Virginia on April 5-7th. This was AVID’s third consecutive year to play in West Virginia’s beautiful capital city and is one of AVID’s 2024 events that has the most team participation. Seven teams competed with five teams placing!
We appreciate all of the tournament event organizers efforts to put on an amazing event even with the challenges of severe weather hitting the Charleston area earlier in the week.

The boys work hard and battle for each other. Every weekend spent watching them compete is a treat. They truly deserved to raise the Championship cup this weekend by conquering the crucial moments that mattered the most. Among them, the penalty kick save by our keeper, Kyler Weyant, at the end of game three, stands out as the pinnacle of the weekend. Without Kyler’s incredible play, the outcome would have been entirely different. Our defense once again showcased their ability, displaying composure in possession and initiating attacks. Gavin Clayton emerged as the leading scorer with two goals, while Liam Mowbray, Cole Taylor, and Jace Patton each netted a goal. Not to forget the crucial assists provided by Nate Clapper, Liam Mowbray, and Gavin Clayton. We made solid progress in the concepts we have been working on, but our finishing needs work. We left some opportunities on the field, but we are determined to improve and excel in the upcoming events. I want to take this moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to the Wolfpack parents who have invested their time and resources throughout the years. This championship-winning moment would not have been possible without your unwavering dedication and support.

Awesome weekend at the WVFC Capitol Cup in Charlston WV. The boys fought hard and we saw a lot of progress from Saturday’s games to Sunday’s games. Our defense really stepped up in crucial moments including JB our goalie making some unbelievable saves. We continue to improve this year and I’m excited to see what the future brings for these young and talented players. Go Knights!

Wow, what a weekend for our AVID Crush family! We found ourselves going 4-0 on the weekend, scoring 30 goals and only allowing 8, bringing home the WVFC U9 Championship! The tenacity and growth of our team continues to impress and inspire me. Our ball control and passing as we enter the attacking end of the field has made it difficult for teams to stop us. And, we had big goals scored in tight games by a couple players that really stepped up huge for us today! We are feeling more of an impact in our games from more and more girls, a testament to their hard work and desire to improve their skills. This weekend was one to remember for Crush!!
