WVU 4v4 Breast Cancer Tournament Recap

WVU 4v4 Breast Cancer Tournament Recap

The WVU Women’s Soccer 4-Versus-4 Breast Cancer Tournament is an annual event that invites three-person teams from the community to team up with a Mountaineer athlete for a fun-filled day at the WVU Soccer facilities in Morgantown. The latest tournament took place on Sunday, March 2, 2025.

This 4v4 event not only provides an exciting experience but also raises awareness about the importance of early breast cancer detection. Over the past 15 years, it has helped WVU Women’s Soccer raise more than $150,000 for the WVU Cancer Institute Betty Puskar Breast Care Center.

AVID has been a proud supporter of this event for many years, and this year, we had seven teams with players participate, including a Pride team that finished as Finalists.

Hooley Plunge

Hooley Plunge

The AVID Rangers have proudly supported Team GIA in the annual Hooley Plunge for the past four years. This year, the team raised over $2,800 for the Special Olympics of Allegany County and other programs for individuals with developmental disabilities, with 22 participants joining the cause. Through this event, the team has not only advocated for the rights of those with disabilities but also fostered understanding and support for this special community. The experience has been a powerful team-building opportunity and a way for the players to make a meaningful impact, all while developing important values like resilience, gratitude, humility, and compassion. We are incredibly proud of the Rangers for their continued dedication to Team GIA and the Hooley Plunge!

AVID Rampage Gives Back

Supporting Local Families This Thanksgiving

This Thanksgiving, the AVID Rampage came together to make a meaningful impact in our community. Thanks to the generosity of 96 donors, we raised over $6,000 to assemble Thanksgiving meal kits for more than 100 families across three counties: Allegany, Mineral, and Hampshire.

Each lovingly packed box included:

  • 1 turkey
  • 2 pumpkin pies
  • 12 dinner rolls
  • cranberry sauce, stuffing, & gravy
  • Yams, corn, green beans, egg noodles
  • Butter, mac & cheese, chicken broth, and more!

Our players and their families worked tirelessly to organize, pack, and deliver 2,300 grocery items into these boxes, partnering with incredible local organizations, including Frankfort Elementary, Frost Elementary, Beall Elementary, the Ft. Ashby & Greenspring Food Banks, and the Allegany County Department of Social Services.

With 15 players and over 40 family members joining forces, we saw firsthand the power of teamwork off the field. At AVID Soccer Club, we strive to develop athletes who lead with kindness, empathy, and a passion for giving back.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated, packed, delivered, or cheered us on. Together, we made this Thanksgiving season brighter for so many families!

Our entire Crush team attended the WVU 4×4 challenge today. The format is unique and fun and fast paced. It was a great experience for all of our girls that provided good competition and some mentoring and coaching from a WVU women’s soccer player. We will definitely try to attend this on an annual basis!
