The West Virginia Development Friendlies are officially sanctioned friendly matches organized by the West Virginia Soccer Association (WVSA), with a primary focus on both player and referee development. Launched in the fall of 2023, this league aims to provide valuable opportunities for growth and improvement within the sport of soccer, fostering skill-building in a competitive yet supportive environment. We are incredibly grateful to the league for extending an invitation to AVID, allowing us to continue our participation. As we remain committed to our core mission of player development, we look forward to furthering our engagement and contributing to the league’s success in nurturing talent at all levels.

 Coach Thoughts
The AVID Academy had a great opportunity to showcase the skills they learned in the academy this weekend at Mylan Park in Morgantown WV. The kids have been training on their individual dribbling skills, and one on one skill moves to beat opposing defenders. All of their hard work really paid off as the Academy team went 2-0, scoring 13 goals and only conceding 2. I was very excited to see the kids play together for the first time and they did not disappoint. To see the skills they have been developing at Academy training come to life on the field was an awesome experience. The team showed great sportsmanship throughout the day, and had a ton of fun building team chemistry. I would like to thank the host team BVB for the opportunity to play a friendly competitive match where all the kids got the chance to hone their skills. Can’t wait to see what the future holds for this group of talented players.
