 Coach Thoughts
The first weekend of October, AVID Rampage tackled two battles, on two different stages, in two different states, on two different days. Since the end of last season, our Rampage family has continued to grow and expand, and this weekend proved the perfect opportunity to show that we are dedicated to finding appropriate development opportunities for all of our players. On Saturday, Rampage White played in the West Virginia Development Friendlies in Morgantown, West Virginia. On Sunday, Rampage Gold played two league play games at the Maryland Soccerplex in Germantown, Maryland to close out their regular season play in the SAM Select league. Head Coach Lee Beeman said, “For the better part of a year, our goal as a team has been to continue to expand to a point that we are able to offer appropriate development opportunities to all of our players. By expanding to two tiered rosters, we can create opportunities to build confidence, hone individual skills, and develop well rounded players. Not much changes behind the scenes; we all train together and the rosters are fluid. I’m very excited about the direction our team is headed!” Rampage will continue with this model for the upcoming event winter indoor seasons.

The AVID Blaze girls enjoyed great day in Morgantown at the West Virginia Development Friendlies! The teams gave us tough competition, but the girls gave it their all! The advancement of skill throughout the progression of the day was phenomenal! From the start of the first game to the end of the last, it was like watching another team on the field. The girls stayed positive and had fun!

FC Frederick ScrimmageFest 42 Recap

FC Frederick ScrimmageFest 42 Recap

ScrimmageFest is a single day of soccer matches where teams play different opponents in a shortened match format with no scores or standings kept. This format removes the pressure and (perceived) need to win associated with most tournaments so as to advance to an extra game and/or Championship.  This in turn gives coaches the latitude to try different formations, player combinations and substitution patterns they may not feel comfortable with in another format.

 Coach Thoughts
What an awesome way to start off the season! In just a few short weeks and only 5 practices these girls have shown they have what it takes to BLAZE!! I am beyond proud of their hard work and determination they showed on the field at ScrimmageFest! It was a fun-filled day against some very competitive teams! I am excited to see them set fire to the fields in this upcoming season as they continue to gain strength and momentum as a team!

The Avengers showed up ready to play this weekend. We’ve been focusing a lot moving with a sense of urgency and playing shape which we saw on full display today. A +24 goal differential exceed any of our expectations for the boys. – Head Coach, Daniel Peterson

2024 Annual Picnic

2024 Annual Picnic

Today was an enjoyable day for our AVID Soccer Club family as we wrapped up the 2024 season with our annual family picnic at Rocky Gap State Park. It was a fun celebration, with over a hundred players, families, and friends gathering to share in the joy and camaraderie of the occasion.

The food was catered by Hoovers Bar and Grill of Keyser, WV and featured hamburgers and hot dogs, mac and cheese, and an assortment of delectable desserts that everyone enjoyed. The fun continued with a lively game of “pass the water” involving both players and team management, creating waves of laughter and friendly competition.

Kids and even some spirited parents got into the action with impromptu sand soccer games and rounds of corn hole. As the day warmed up, many took a refreshing dip in Lake Habeeb, making the most of the beautiful weather.

This picnic was more than just a celebration—it was our way of expressing heartfelt gratitude and affection for our players, their families, and our fantastic volunteer staff. At AVID, we believe in creating experiences that go beyond the soccer field, enriching the lives of everyone in our community. Here’s to the memorable moments we shared and the exciting season ahead!
